This year Debenhams have come up with a clever way of the old try before you buy idea! Customers can ‘Turf-Test’ their shoes before they buy at Debenhams Oxford Street Store.
With a focus on Royal Ascot, Debs have created a mini-paddock so race-goers can see how different styles of heel cope on real grass.
Cassandra Robinson-Brown, PR manager for accessories at Debenhams, said: “For many people Royal Ascot is the height of not just the racing calendar, but the fashion calendar too. The strict dress code is almost as famous as the race meeting and it is a great opportunity for people to really dress-up with fabulous hats, gloves and of course the perfect pair of shoes.
“However, we know many of our customers struggle when picking shoes to go with their chosen outfit. Often they don’t feel an outfit is complete without high heels, but there is a lot of grass at Ascot, as well as many other summer events, such as weddings and garden parties. The Debenhams Turf-Test is ideal to check out exactly how different heels feel when walking on grass, before you buy.”
The results of the turf-testing on different heel heights and shoe styles can be seen on Debenhams Facebook page.
The Turf-Test will also be available at other regional Debenhams stores, ahead of key race dates – including York and Leeds for the Yorkshire Ebor Festival and Doncaster for the St.Leger Festival.

From rhubarb to strawberries for women and leeks to aubergines for men this makes working out your body shape a lot more interesting and makes me a lot more peckish for my 5 a day! Each body shape comes with handy hints to help you find what suits you and if that's not enough, Debenhams 11 top personal shoppers and stylists in their Oxford Street flagship store have been trained in the fruit and veg body shapes to offer their guidance when your out and about in the shop.
After assessing the range of shapes myself I'm between a rhubarb and a pear making me somewhere between Cara Delevingne and Beyoncé which is already a winning start! Im recommended to try printed tops, chunky necklaces and tulip shirts - all of which I love! What's great about the handy hints and top tips suggested by Debenhams is that instead of giving you rules you have to stick to, you are given ideas and inspiration to try out new things! With the summer season coming I cant wait to try out some of their ideas!

Ladies, the day has come! Say good bye to those sky high killer heel, say good bye to those giant platforms and say Hello to trainers! Debenhams have reported a rise in sales of sports shoes and this is no fluke as celebrities and fashionista’s are also embracing the trend for comfy feet! Hurray trainers are no longer just for the gym!
With fashion week over and time to reflect on the catwalks and outfits, trainers are standing out as the favourite footwear option! With fashion editors sporting the latest trainers on the front row and Karl Lagerfeld’s 65 Chanel models walking the
“Women no longer need to reserve trainers for their daily commute, carrying their trusty heels in their handbags like Melanie Griffith in Working Girl” Said Natelle Baddeley, Head of Design, Debenhams.
“Thanks to fashion editors and celebrities such as Kristen Stewart, Naomi Watts and Cate Blanchett, who have all worn them on the red carpet; it’s now completely acceptable to wear trainers with dresses, skirts and even trouser suits.”
Heres some of my top looks to add trainers to your every day wardrobe!

I stumbled across new O.W.L watches and have fallen in love with the style and quality of the range all designed in Great Britain. The watches are super delicate and feminine and are inspired by British heritage. Searching for the perfect watch is like searching for the perfect pair of jeans - you know that its an investment piece that you will wear over and over again, and when you find it you wonder what you did without it!! O.W.L watches come in these beautiful luggage style boxes with clasp fastening. What I love about this is that if feels very British and you know that this is a brand that is staying true to its routes! The box is also a perfect size to store your watch or other jewellery on your dressing table which is great!
I have the Kensington rose gold watch with black leather bound links. The watch is a lovely soft rose gold colour which looks so luxurious and compliments the black perfectly. The face of the watch has 3 dials and the delicate O.W.L branding along with the silver highlight around the edge. All thyles in the collection are super feminine and have soft curves and pretty details to add a touch of elegance. This is such an unusual style and I love that its so unique and different. It comes in a variety of colours and throughout the O.W.L range there are loads of styles to choose from and looking at the collection there is something for everyone! All styles are great to dress up with workwear or evening wear and also a perfect hint of glam for dressing down days. I love to wear this with a tailored black dress and jacket for work and with an oversized top, rose gold necklace and jeans for the weekend.
Pricing ranges from £60 to £100 so this is not fast fashion but compared to many of the 'designer' watches in the market, these are very affordable! I feel that same about watches as I do about handbags, if its something your going to wear everyday and its going to go with everything then its worth spending the money on.
O.W.L watches are available at ASOS, Topshop online and Debenhams and I can't wait to see whats next for the brand! Also visit online at http://www.owlwatches.com/
I will be giving away this gorgeous O.W.L bracelet! The competition will run on twitter until 24th Jan. All details will be on @shelikesshoes twitter to find out how to win! Good Luck!
